How it Started During 2020 we were in the middle of a global pandemic with worldwide talk of a new normal. Although this was a frightening thought for many, we saw it as an opportunity. An opportunity to see the world in a new view and bring about awareness to try and better our society. |
| Although some things are not new, such as the global climate problem. A considerable part of this is due to the food industry; from conception, to production, all the way to packaging. Of course, there was also the human side to 2020. The pandemic made social distancing and minimal contact the new norm, making access to jobs harder and loneliness more common. |

It’s time for this to change. During this global pandemic, Alexander Callewaert, a 20-year-old Business Engineering student, had time to reflect on this. Through his studies he has always been challenged to develop his thinking skills and solve problems. His worldwide connections, case competitions and extracurricular activities helped him learn how to put his ideas into action and how to make a real-world impact. |
Enactus & Our Impact
Fast forward to 2021, we decided to join forces with Enactus, the world’s largest experiential learning platform dedicated to creating a better world while developing the next generation of entrepreneurial leaders and social innovators.
The Enactus network of global business, academic and student leaders are unified by its vision - to create a better, more sustainable world. We are honoured to be a part of this.
This leads KU Leuven Enactus member Johannes van der Poel to join the team and new project members are continuously being recruited. Our mission is to create a socially optimised business that believes in an environmentally friendly economy where sustainability does not compromise quality.
Our Team
They built a team of superstar waffle lovers in pursuit of an ambitious goal: to rethink the easy product a waffle is by alternating its ingredients into local, sustainable ingredients and offering opportunities to people in disadvantaged situations.
Perhaps the best way to look at a new normal is by reshaping it at the source and starting with the things that seem too simple to change.
